Bran, the outer layer of a cereal grain separated in milling; Codex lists bran among cereal grain products. IslamQA rules that everything that grows from the earth is permissible in principle, citing the Qur'an: “He it is Who created for you all that is on earth” (al-Baqarah 2:29).
