Halal status: Source dependent

Status depends on the source of emulsifiers used. Toronto Public Health lists margarine as Halal but explicitly warns that some margarines contain monoglycerides and diglycerides from animal sources which are Haram. Always check labels; margarine confirmed free of animal-derived mono/diglycerides is Halal.
