Halal status: Source dependent

Red and blue colouring from grape skins or red cabbage, listed as anthocyanins or E163. MUIS marks it doubtful and notes that it is extracted with water, methanol or ethanol. SANHA lists it as halal. Authorities differ, so the stricter view is shown. A halal mark on the pack settles it.
