Halal status: Source dependent

An emulsifier listed as lecithin or E322. MUIS marks it doubtful and notes that it comes from animal or vegetable materials, though most is made from soya beans. SANHA lists it as halal, and IFANCA says to investigate it further. Authorities differ, so the stricter view is shown. A vegan claim or a halal mark on the pack settles it.
