Amidated Pectin (E440B)
Halal status: Source dependent
A stabiliser made by treating pectin with ammonia. MUIS lists apple residues and orange pith as commercial sources of pectin, but SANHA advises checking that it did not come from cider making, so its source decides whether it is halal. A halal mark on the pack settles it.
