Polyoxyethylene (40) stearate, listed as E431, an emulsifier made from stearic acid and ethylene oxide. MUIS and IFANCA mark it doubtful. SANHA marks it doubtful and says to check the source of the stearic acid. A vegan claim or a halal mark on the pack settles it.
