Glycerol (E422)

Halal status: Source dependent

Glycerol, also called glycerine, listed as E422, a humectant made from oils and fats or by synthesis. MUIS and IFANCA mark it doubtful. SANHA marks it doubtful, gives its source as oils and fats, and says the synthetic product is halaal. A vegan claim or a halal mark on the pack settles it.
