Halal status: Source dependent

Tallow status depends on the source animal and slaughter method. IFANCA lists tallow as requiring investigation. Tallow from Zabiha-slaughtered Halal animals is permissible. Tallow from pork or non-Zabiha animals is Haram. Explicit Halal certification is required before tallow can be considered permissible.
