Halal status: Source dependent

Duck meat, which IslamQA rules permissible. SANHA rules any animal not ritually slaughtered haram, and does not accept kosher meat because the name of Allah is not said over each animal. IslamQA accepts slaughter by Jews and Christians, including by machine with one Bismillah, and holds that such meat may be eaten without asking how it was slaughtered, unless it is known to have been done wrongly. The stricter view is shown. A halal mark on the pack settles it.
