Turtle status depends on slaughter method. Sheikh Muhammed Salih al-Munajjid states that to be on the safe side, turtles must be slaughtered properly as they live both on land and in the sea. Rules for land animals take precedence for amphibious creatures. Zabiha slaughter is required.
