Rennet taken from the stomach of a calf, used to curdle milk into cheese. Authorities differ on whether the calf must have been slaughtered the Islamic way. SANHA and MUIS say rennet from an animal not slaughtered according to Islamic rites is not halal. IIFA's 2018 answer and IslamQA rule it halal either way. The stricter view is shown. A halal mark on the pack settles it.
